Smoothies are simple, and the possible combinations are endless. Here, I share one of my favorites right now. While you can always add protein powder, this smoothie gets its hit of protein (15g!) from Greek yogurt.
For a long time, basic strawberry and banana smoothie made with yogurt was my jam. Lately, however, I've been really enjoying adding a packet of frozen acai to that same combo. The result is a deliciously fruity and tangy smoothie.
I like these which I get from Target:
1/4 cup water or juice (apple or OJ are good options)
1 1/3 cup of plain Greek yogurt.
1 large ripe banna frozen
2 cups of frozen mixed berries. I used the "cherries and berries" mix found at Target
2 Tablespoons of honey (optional)
Step 1 Fill your blender with yogurt, water or juice, banana and berries mix
Step 2 Blend until smooth. You may need to stir a bit if it it's too thick to blend. Add more water or juice as needed.
1. Freeze the banana ahead of time if possible
2. If you use a less than ripe banana you may add a little honey to sweeten
3. If you like to add greens, I recommend you blend them alone first in a bit of water. Otherwise they won't fully blend and you'd end up with chunks of greens in your smoothie
4. A dairy-free version is easy by using a dairy-free milk (oat is my fave), or even just water. The bananas are enough to give your smoothie a creamy consistency without milk.
5. Boost the protein by adding protein powder, or make it with a premade protein shake like Fairlife or Premier protein
5. If using fresh berries, you'll need to add a cup of ice to get the right frozen consistency .
